Hello everybody.
i haven't been here in a while and i noticed some of the frustrated filmmakers out there that have run into the unfortunately uninformed clerks at Wal-mart.
if i've said it once, i've said it a 1000 times, i hate loving walmart.
anyways i just wanted to clear some things up for some people:
Rule 1. Ignore all Wal-mart Clerks.
This means on the phone, at the store, in the photo department. Stay away from all clerks.
Rule 2. You will have to physically go to the Wal-Mart. Don't inquire over the phone because they won't know what the hell yer talkin' about. (don't ask me why, they just don't)
Rule 3. Stay Calm. Try not to strangled the 15 year old twerp behind the photo counter who thinks he knows all there is about photos and swears, that "wal-mart does NOT process that 'old' stuff."
Rule 4. Do the Following:
Walmart processes kodachrome 40 fro $4.88 a cartridge. all you do is get the envelope for film to be sent off (not one-hour photo)
These are found at the stand alone stations usually right near the photo dept.
fill out the personal info and then jump down to the special instructions area and write:
super 8 cartridge
kodachrome 40
drop the envelope in the slot.
ignore the people at the counter. ignore the area on the envelope that has all the stuff about print number, and print sizes and all that jazz.
super 8 film is processed similar to 35mm slide. it's a positive print that will be projected. i.e. what you see is what you get. if you look closely at their services in the pamphlet at the mail-off station 'color movie film' is listed with '35mm color slide film'
Takes exactly Two Weeks.
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!
When you go to pick up your film, Just give your name.
Don't tell them what you had processed.
because you'll run into the same previous problems.
If they ask, tell them you had some slides sent off.
I've tried them. It works.
Don't know about Target or Walgreens.
Hope this helps!

Yep, I've run into the exact same problems myself. Waited two weeks only to find my film had never left the store -- and I did fill in the envelope just as you did. I got impatient and mailed my film directly to Dwayne's Photo, but this cost me rougly twice as much. I'll try Wal-Mart again when I figure out how to "trick" the stupid clerks into sending the film out with the slide orders!
